New Measurements

Yus, I have put up some new measurements for your perusal.

I measured myself over the weekend at my folks and I'm unsure whether it was a trick measuring tape, or I was having a skinny day, or that I'm having a fat day today, but I could have sworn I'd lost 3 inches on the waist then. I shall not torture myself with that, for now I am 36 inches, I have lost 2 inches on my waist :o).

I haven't lost anything anywhere else, so I can see where I carry all my spare lard, in a big tyre right around my middle much like this:

I caught a programme earlier on one of the only channels I recieve on me telly, '10 things you need to know about losing weight', apt don't you think? There was a guy on it who didn't look overweight at all, but they gave him an MRI to reveal his 'visceral' fat, the fat surrounding your organs inside you. He had quite a bit. Apparently this is the first stuff to go when you start losing weight, so this could be what I'm losing, making my waistline go down a bit. This is all good news and encourages me to keep up the hard work.

My legs and arse are always the last place it goes anyway, I'll get there eventually, when I end my exercise fast :o)

Weigh in Numero Three

I appear to have become somwhat confused somewhere along the line. I think I started out at 14st 2.5lb, not 14st 2lb. Damn Gerards handwriting!

I lost 1/2lb this week, not as good as previous weeks, but I was expecting it. Complacency sets in when 4lb seems to drop off with no trouble each week, I needed a less successful week to get me focussed again. Due to my initial misreading of my weight chart I am still 13st 8lb (last week I was in fact 13st 8.5lb, but in denial). The lovely Oggers lost 2 1/2lbs this week! Applause all round methinks, it's lovely to have a significant loss, well deserved and I hope it makes her feel better :o).

We had a birthday do to attend after WW so it was all poised to go down the pan, but I think we pulled it back rather well. We had Leggera pizza for dinner at Pizza Express (I had vouchers baby, oh yes....cheapskate). Those are the pizzas with a hole cut in the middle, and salad inserted in the hole. It was rather delicious, even if it was served on what appeared to be a cross between a chopping board and an artists palette. Not bad for 8.5 points.
After this, Jo suggested that we walk from Angel to Oxford Street, we had plenty of time before the drunken hoarde were to turn up at the pub, so why not? It wasn't a tiresome walk either, I quite enjoyed it, did have to buy a diet coke in Burger King to use the loo's though. We had a momentary wibble thinking we may have gotten lost whilst looking for Great Titchfield Street, but I was finally redeemed when we found it at last! Phew....I must admit I was starting to doubt my memory and sense of direction.

The pub was lovely and Jennymays mates were fab too. We had 3 pints each and then wibbled home. I must try and remember that Jo doesn't have as many points to spare as me. Jo kindly bought my drinkies last night as I am well and truley skint until Friday....thank you Oggers! Love you :o). I snacked on 8 crackerbread in bed and woke up in a pile of breadcrumbs with my phone squished underneath me....lucky I even heard the alarm!

Ahhh, right, so I'm more focussed for this week after a disappointing 1/2lb loss. Still a loss though, canny complain.

I wonder how the Friday Pubcrawl will fare for me.......argh!! :o)

Ebil Beer

What did I say about beer being my major downfall??

The last 2 nights I've been out drinking the brown bubbly stuff, 4 pints each night....yesterday may even have been 5 pints. 4 pints = 12 points, that's half my daily allowance. *Shudderment*

So, this weekend with the parents I need to be extra good and might even do some skipping or something in the garden. They have a treadmill too, maybe I can hop on that for a bit.

Fingers crossed for good results next weigh-in

In other news I had a cous cous salad just now, quite nice, didn't eat it all, and the falafel was a bit minging. Turned it over to look for nutritional value to calculate points, and it says:

Calories: 350+

Sat Fat: Very low

Well that bloody well helps doesn't it??

Woo Hoo!!

Oh yes! Weigh-in last night and I've lost another 4lb, thats 8lb down now, going in the right direction.
I can definitely feel it in my clothes, I was pulling my jeans up walking down the street this morning. I've gone down a notch in the belt, but because it's so old and battered it always ends up in the same notch. I think if I start changing it now the old thing may just give up the ghost entirely and fall to pieces! Time for a new belt methinks.

I had been slightly worried this week, as, although I was eating all good stuff, I was very busy and wasn't eating at regular intervals, maybe even skipping meals and stuff. There was the concern that my body would think I was trying to starve myself and start laying down emergency blubber! Luckily that didn't happen :)
Little slip last night, Jo and I had 4 pints at the old Rose and Crown, celebratory fat drinks :o) At comedy tonight too....argh, might be on the G and slimline T again :)

Sorry I haven't been blogging every day (as if you're that bothered), but I've been so manically busy this week I haven't had a chance to blog! I KNOW, heinous. Next week looks to be quite empty at the moment which is nice....I need to chilllll, holiday in under 2 weeks time, huzzah!

Yes....a week in Italy will be a test to my determination! Mmmmmm, gelato.

Weigh-in

Woo hoo! I managed to lose 4lb this week, fabulous. Just have to keep it up now, that's going to be the hard part, especially with a couple of drinking sessions planned this week. I shall persevere, I COULD drink less, yes....I COULD *riffles through points book for low-point alternatives*. I so won't.

You may have noticed, I've put my cringe-worthy measurements....oh yes. 38 inch waist, I do believe that puts me at increased risk of heart disease. Yay for me, lets knock a couple of inches off that shall we? I'll never be a slight little thing unfortunately, I'm just not built that way, I'm sure 38 inches isn't necessary though.

My personal aim is to be able to fit into a pair of trousers I was wearing back in 2006, I love those trousers and refuse to throw them away, I CAN fit in them again! I CAN and will, that's my goal. If and when I attain it, I shall post a picture of myself in these trousers. I'll be happy then :)

I made chicken kievs for dinner today, it could have been slightly more successful. First off, I had one tiny chicken breast and one massive one....so I was going to end up with wonky kievs. You have to pound the chicken flat then, I had nothing to pound it with, except my own fists. So there I was in the kitchen....punching a dead chicken.

I'm not sure I pounded it enough, as when you put the filling in and then roll the kiev closed, you're supposed to 'fold' up the sides to contain the cheese filling. I had nothing to fold and the cream cheese immediately started oozing out of then ends whilst I made a feeble attempt to 'seal' them with cocktail sticks! GAH!!

In the end they did actually taste quite nice, though the chicken was a bit dry, maybe I shouldn't have cooked them for so long more garlic was required though. More garlic is ALWAYS required.

Days 3, 4, 5 and 6

I'll do you favour and not detail all the points and meals that I had over this period ha ha. I'll just pick out a few highlights for you :o)

Friday - I was quite good! We didn't do pub lunch in the end after all and so I went and bought a jacket spud with coleslaw from the refectory, plus a little salad pot thing. I made butternut squash chips in the evening, which didn't go quite to plan, they needed to be thinner and crispier. I shall succeed in the end.

Saturday - For lunch I made my king prawn spag again for dad and myself, and for dinner we made mmmmm, garlic 'butter' salmon, this stuff is gorgeous, just do the following:

Take a fillet of salmon and cut a piece of foil big enough to wrap it up

Place the salmon on the foil

Chop up a clove of garlic and sprinkle it on top

Put a couple of knobs of butter on top of that (I used Bertolli extra light)

Wrap it all up in the foil and bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes (20 for smaller fillets, 25-30 for larger fillets)

YUM! With stir-fry vegetabubbles.

Sunday - Was bit of a naughty day, good lunch, chicken bagel. Dinner was bad, but oh so good!! Toad in the hole with 2 sausages wrapped in bacon, and roast tatties. I think it worked out at about 17.5 points, but I had some saved up from other days, and 4 taken of my total for the walk that morning.

I was extra naughty and had a bit of ice cream with some mango chunks too....woe is me

Monday - Norty norty, went to Strada for lunch and had 'Panzerotti Porcini', or mushroom ravioli, in butter. about 11.5 points I do believe. We also shared garlic and rosemary pizza bread, and a melted chocolate pudding....owie!

So for dinner I had a green salad with a bit of feta sprinkled over the top. I was over yesterday, but not by too much, only a couple of points.

All in all, I think I have about 6 points in the bank for this week that I didn't use. The true test will come when I'm weighed this evening though....shock horror, I shall be back to tell you all about it and finally give you my measurements, I got a measuring tape this weekend :)

The evil wine

I blogged too soon last night! I was coerced into an evil glass of wine by my landlord...that put me one point over, gah!!

Lets see what today brings!!

I just had another pear by the way :o)

Day 2 - Chilli day

Today was good, I wandered into work this morning with a tin of toona and extra light philadelphia in my bag.

Now, they say a small tin of tuna (70g) is one point, so I had a normal tin (140g). So instead of one point it's 2, but I can cope with that, a tin of tuna...no problemo. Half a wholemeal baguette, cut open, philly on both sides, now comes the fishy bit. Does anybody actually realise just how much tuna there is in a tin of toona? 140g I hear you say....NO!! It's a conspiracy. Somehow they manage to stuff a whole tuna into these tins, I swearz it.

There I was sat at my desk, rolls piled high with tuna, tuna on my plate and half a tin of tuna still sitting there. It's a sad sad day when you're sat eating tuna out of the tin with a fork, all the while thinking 'this CAN'T be just two points...shut up, the book said......the book doesn't know everything....TOONA!!'. I was determined not to leave any to stink out the office. In the end I had to admit defeat, I sealed the can and the remaining contents in a little sealable bag (partly for safety and partly to seal in the smell) and chucked it in the bin.

Funnily enough I wasn't really hungry for a while after that little adventure. I'm very impressed with my dinner though, king prawns, garlic, chilli, tomatoes, rocket and spaghetti. Um yum, if you want to make it here is my recipe below (adapted for WW):

2 tomatoes, skinned and chopped

1 clove garlic finely chopped

1 small med-hot red chilli, finely chopped

8 king prawns

40g spaghetti

Handful of rocket

1 tablespoon olive oil

Cook the spaghetti until al dente, prepare your other ingredients while it's cooking and a few minutes before it's ready:

Hob on medium/high, put the oil and garlic in the pan together.

When the garlic starts to sizzle, put the chilli in.

SauteƩ that for a bit (minute?) and put the tomatoes in, sauteƩ again for a minute.

Put the prawns in, and cook for 1.5-2 minutes, to make sure the prawns are heated through (assuming you bought pre-cooked....or lazy prawnage).

Drain your spaghetti and put in a dish, put your king prawns and bits on top. Add the rocket and mix it through a bit....ta da. You look like a culinary master but you've only taken ten minutes...that's my kinda cooking!

Ok so what points have I used today?

Brekkie - Bran Flakes and 1/4 pint skimmed milk = 2 points

Lunchings - 1/2 wholemeal baguette, tuna, tablespoon of cream cheez, salad = 9 points

Dinner - Ok, I confess, 12 yes, read it....12 king prawns, toms, rocket, 40g spag, olive oil, chilli, garlic = 4 and 3/4 points (3/4 is the prawns ha ha)

Snackage - Pear, 250ml orange joose, 2 teas = 3 points

Grand totali =-19 points (I'll round up that 3/4....grudgingly)

This leaves me with 6 points to use up, I could save the points....but I won't. I bought some Sainsburys 'Be good to yourself' cheesecakes as a treat, I shall have one of these...worth 5 points so I'll have saved one.

Tomorrow might not be quite as successful....pub lunchings :o)

Important news

I just had a pear...I thought you should know

Watching the Weight, Day 1

Well, I think I was doing quite well until the end of the day...but I knew it would go downhill then as I was out for dins with my sister. I'd already looked up the points in a Tori Katsu curry (8.5), but then we had mini spring rolls, veggie ones, 3 each.
I went home and looked up spring rolls in my eating out book....feck me!!....5 points EACH??

Now, my question is this, what size spring rolls exactly? Hmm? Cos, I had, like, 3 MINI ones. Does 3 mini ones add up to one average spring roll? Or are those evil little bastard things 5 points each? This makes all the difference between going over by one point or by eleven points.

I have decided that I'll just go over by one, I've still gone over, which I'm led to believe is bad, can't do much about it. I'll save myself the guilt of believing I've consumed almost half my daily points allowance over the top though.

*sigh*

So yesterday I had:

Brekkie - 30g (very roughly as I don't yet have scales) bran flakes and about 1/4 pint skimmed milch

Lunch - Rocket and Feta salad, 40g feta. Half a wholmeal baguette (strictly speaking should only have had 1/4...norty!!)

Dinner - Tori Katsu curry, 3 spring rolls, jasmine tea...my my that's bad!

Snackage - apple, pear, and juice freshly squeezed from an orange (about 200ml ish). Oh and 2 cups of tea, one with skimmed and one with semi-skimmed milk.

So, actually, if it hadn't have been for that eating out, I'd have been quite good, by the way, I'm allowed 25 points a day. Up to dinner I'd only had about 11 1/2 of them!

When I get a measuring tape I'll start doing that too, I seem to keep forgetting, I wonder why....
Don't ask me why I torture myself with pictures of yummy fatty food :(. Image cred

Weight Watchers!!

After the disaster that was last week, we finally made it to Weight Watchers last night.

We filled out our little forms and got on the scales...I tipped them at 14st 2lb! I'm unimpressed by that, and that was WITHOUT my shoes on. My aim would be to get down to 11st, but I'd be happy with 11 and a half. This is a lot of weight to lose, I'd better get cracking really hadn't I.

So we got bullied into the monthly package, which does work out cheaper as long as you go regularly enough, and we got the essentials pack for free :D. So I've got my points guide, eating out points guide, all kinds of recipe ideas starters bumpf, tracking books and this kind of stuff...and a pen, I love my pen.

Jo was rather miffed when we sat down and worked out how many points we each had to stick to. Mine was about 24 and jo's was 18, but after I explained that it was because I was taller and fatter than she was she seemed happier. We had a little motivational talk by our 'Team Leader' and off we went to Tesco to fill our cupboards and fridges with healthy wares.

I had my last indulgence last night, sharing a bottle of wine and a packet of salami with my housemate, now I'm on the diet, lets see how it goes.

I'm going to do all kinds of embarrassing things like putting my weight and size measurements up here, oh yes, motivational or what?

I have no shame :o) I hope you enjoy my journey as much as I do /insert irony/sarcasm/
